Welcome to Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tours

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tours are guided tours around Scotland’s capital city. Delve into the history, the characters and the scenery of this beautiful city as your highly experienced guide leads you through the narrow streets and hidden areas that you might not get to see otherwise.

More than just a walking tour of Edinburgh, this is a gentle jog through the city, and because of the pace we’re going, we can enjoy seeing a lot more than you would on a walking tour. An EMF Running Tour gives you the perfect opportunity to see some unexpected sights mixed in with the cultural history of the place.

The tour starts at the entrance to the impressive Scottish Parliament building in the picturesque setting of Holyrood Park. The first kilometre will take you up to Calton Hill, giving you a panoramic view of the city. The rest of the tour will take you through parts of the old and new town of Edinburgh before you finish up at the Historic Scotland Education Centre, nestled in the shadow of Arthurs Seat.

If you fancy something a bit different you can book a bespoke tour which will start and finish in locations that suit you, and take in the sites you would most like to see; check out the Tour Details page for more information on our different themed tours-from Whisky, to Trainspotting, whatever your interests are, our guides can cater for you!

Discover Edinburgh on the run!

We have a fabulous team of tour guides who all share a passion for Edinburgh’s history and running.

James Armandary
James has worked as a tour guide in Edinburgh for many years. With a passion for storytelling, a keen interest in history and a flair for the dramatics, James makes a perfect tour guide. He will be sure to entertain you throughout the tour telling you stories of all the mad characters in history, the ones with great stories that don’t always get told the way they should do.
Ray Conse, EMF Running Tours
Ray Conse
Raised in the wild Celtic countryside where pretty much every stone, tree, path & gate had its own story, Ray has a strong musical background, particularly folk music. His performances are strongly infused with its historical stories, life lessons, and general lyrical connection with the world around us. Guranteed to give you 90 minutes of story-driven exercise.
Nick Williams, EMF Running Tours
Nick Williams
A local for nearly 20 years, Nick loves Edinburgh for its vibrant festival scene, wonderful architecture and a wild geology unlike any other city on earth. Some of his favourite moments include lighting up the town on the Night Afore and enjoying the view from the top of Arthur’s Seat. He’s written seven guidebooks to Scotland so can tell you what the rest of the country has to offer as well.
