Terms for EMF Running Tours

TOUR PARTICIPANT SAFETY
  • Baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles or any other wheeled device will not be permitted on the Tour.
  • Participants are recommended not to wear MP3 players or other devices plugged into the ear are whilst participating on the Tour for reasons of health & safety.  When you wear such a device you are unable to hear other participants, cars, bicycles or Tour Guide instructions.
  • Medical personnel authorized by the Tour to do so may examine any participant who appears in distress. If in the sole opinion of authorized medical personnel it is in the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare, medical personnel may remove the participant from the Tour.
  • Participants must retire at once from the Tour if requested to do so by a Tour Guide, official medical staff, or any governmental authority, including fire and police officers.
  • Participants are responsible and assume liability for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of training for and/or participation in the Tour, including but not limited to ambulance transport, hospital stays, physician and pharmaceutical goods and services.

 

  • Each participant must have their own My Details account to take part in an Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tour.
  • An email address is required for all participants.  All correspondence will be via email. A separate email address for each participant is preferred but not required.
  • If using the same email address for two or more entries, each My Details account must have a different password.
  • To register for an Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tour you must be 10 years of age or older on the day of the tour.
  • Any participant aged 10 – 15 years on the day of the Tour must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Participants on the Winter Warmer Tour must bring ID to prove they are over 18 years of age.  Those under 18 years of age or without ID will not be allowed to participate in the whisky tasting.
  • Each participant must agree to the disclaimer and Terms & Conditions before participating in the Tour.
  • All participants take part at their own risk and a disclaimer waiving all claims against GSi Events and any party acting on its behalf must be completed by all participants.
  • Participants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line.
  • Participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear, the Tour Guide will advise participants not suitably dressed not to take part on the Tour. No refund will be offered to the participant in this situation.

 

  • Participants must follow instructions as given from the Tour Guide throughout the duration of the Tour.
  • All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner during their participation in the Tour. This means, for example, that urinating or defecating anywhere on or near the course shall be strictly prohibited except in toilet facilities. Anyone violating this rule of conduct shall be asked to leave the Tour.
  • Every participant shall be provided with an EMF Running Tour high viz band before the Tour begins. The high viz band is to be worn as issued. No participant shall be permitted to participate in the Tour without the high viz band.
  • Baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, Nordic sticks, rollerblades, bicycles or any other wheeled device will not be permitted on the Tour.
  • Before starting the Tour please give careful consideration to your ability to complete the tour (approximately 7km, and 5k for the Winter Warmer Tour) in an appropriate time frame (approximately 90 minutes).
  • All participants must acknowledge and agree that personal information (including medical information entered in My Details or collected by medical staff during or after the Tour) can be stored, used and disclosed by the GSi Events Ltd in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of the Tour and for the compilation of statistical information.
  • The Tour will start on time, participants who are late should not expect the Tour to wait for them.
  • Any participant who refuses to obey the directions of the Tour Guide, or who conducts himself/herself in an unsportsmanlike manner, or who is offensive by action or language to the Tour Guide or other participants or members of the public may be disqualified from the Tour and banned from future participation in any GSi event at the discretion of the Tour Guide.
  • No persons are authorized to be on the Tour unless they are registered participants. Therefore, no person shall be allowed to accompany a participant if he/she is not registered on the Tour.

 

Edinburgh Marathon Festival Running Tours reserves the right to cancel any tour in the case of extreme weather which may put participants safety at risk (gale force winds, flash floods, blizzards). This decision will be made at the discretion of the tour guide. EMF Running Tours will attempt to contact participants using the information they provided to let them know about the cancellation. EMF Running tours will attempt to book participants on an alternative tour and if this is not possible, participants will receive a refund.

In the event of a cancelled Edinburgh Marathon Festival Tour (for example in extreme weather), participants will have their tour rescheduled. If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued. If a participant cannot attend a tour they have booked on, participants will not get a refund or be able to change tour for a different time slot.

The Tour administrators reserve the right, to modify, supplement or waive all or part of the Tour rules.

Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement of the Tour rules published prior to the Tour.

 

Any individual requesting a waiver of any of these rules from the event shall submit a written request no less than 30 days prior to the event date specifying the nature of and reasons for the request.
